Go Batty at Tampa’s Lowry Park ZooBoo for Kids

It’s an all new ZooBoo, just for kids! Ideal for little boys and “ghouls” (age 11 & under), ZooBoo KIDS is a Halloween treat for families. Go batty with extended hours on select nights and “fright free” festivities like a trick-or-treat trail, corn maze, creepy critter encounters, friendly character appearances, fall photo opportunities, Halloween-themed games, festive seasonal decor and a Monster Mash dance party. On designated days in October, guests can watch some of the Zoo’s animals have a smashing good time too with pumpkin toss enrichments. ZooBoo KIDS activities are included with paid Zoo admission or Zoo membership.

RIP haunted houses and screams. Tampa’s ZooBoo is offering an event that focuses on FUN (not fear) this Halloween!  This year’s “fright-free” festivities start at 1 p.m. with extended Zoo hours until 7 p.m. on event days.

“The Zoo is a place where families can make memories every time they visit,” said Tony Moore, chief operating officer. “We wanted to create a new experience that represented Halloween through the eyes of a child — a whimsical world of costumes, candy and fairytales. At ZooBoo KIDS, families will find all of these things in a safe and fear-free atmosphere.”

Activities will include:

  • Trick-or-Treat Stations
  • Crazy Corn Maze
  • Jeepers Creepers Animal Encounters
  • Kooky Not Spooky Character Appearances
  • Scaredy Cat’s Fun House
  • Not-So-Scary Story Time
  • Fun Fortune Teller
  • Pumpkin Toss Animal Enrichments
  • Costumes, Characters and Barnyard Animals Parade
  • Monster Mash Groovy Tunes
  • Halloween Cookie Decorating*
  • Face Painting*

* Designates a fee-based activity

Little boys and “ghouls” (age 11 & under) are invited to come in their most spooktacular attire and have a howling good time with their favorite furry and feathered friends. Plus, watch some of the Zoo’s animals have a smashing good time too with pumpkin enrichments on select days.

Unlike prior years, ZooBoo KIDS is a daytime event. Activities are included with Zoo daytime admission and free for Zoo members. Dates are October 10-11, 17-18, 23-26, 30-31 and Nov. 1. Fright-free festivities (no haunted houses) start at 1 p.m. with extended Zoo hours until 7 p.m.

ZooBoo KIDS is a no-scare zone. Toy weapons of any sort will not be permitted.  For the comfort and safety of all guests, adults (ages 12 and older) are prohibited from wearing masks, wigs, face paint or costumes of any kind. Adults must accompany children during the event. Activities are included with paid Zoo admission or Zoo membership. Visit www.LowryParkZoo.org/ZooBooKIDS for details.
