A few years ago, we talked to Jazmine, who used to go by the name QT Jazz.  Motherhood Full of Dreams caught up with this amazing talent and found out what she’s up to. We are excited about her new song and what she’s going to give us this year.

Snippet of Jazmine’s new song, Ocean!

Jazmine, I was so excited to hear your latest song, Ocean! It’s smooth and catchy and made me want to hear more of your music.  When we last talked to you a few years ago, we shared a remix of Aaliyah’s, At Your Best, and a remix of Xscape’s Understanding with Zonnique, Bahja and Kelsie. Tell us what have you been up to?

Thank you!  Recording and releasing new music! I started filming a few weeks ago for a video series to my song Ocean. Every single will have a themed video sequence to go along with it and I’m so excited!

That’s great news! You’re an amazing dancer so I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us with the video series!  Are you working on an entire album?  When can we expect more music?

Yes! Ocean released this past Friday so the next single, “Level” inspired by the ‘at-yo-mommas-basement party anthem’ Neva Eva by Trillville. It’s set to release at the beginning of August. ‘Ocean’ the album is set to release late fall 2019.

Okay now, sounds like it will make us want to dance. Recently you shared, that you decided to drop QT Jazz and go back to your original name, Jasmine.  What made you want to do that?

Growth. At the beginning of this year, 2019, I promised myself I wouldn’t be the one to hold myself back. I felt like I’d been playing “safe” so much with QT Jazz and it became my mindset. Jazmine with a “Z” was the only thing not taken on Instagram, so I went with it. It was probably the biggest shift I’ve ever had in my life because so much was invested into “QT Jazz” I felt like I’d loose what I had worked for all these years. The crazy part is, more people have came, to congratulate me, say I inspire them and help me. I did actually loose some things, but I gained so much more.

I even legally changed it too.

I hear you.  Sometimes, change can be scary but being brave to do something new, takes courage.  I applaud you for not being afraid to morphe, like the caterpillar into a butterfly!

Tell us, how has the the big move from ATL to LA been?  As an actress, singer, dancer and songwriter, what are you hoping to expand more in?

Everything. LA was also a very big move, but I like being around the hunger. Everyone does something in entertainment in LA, which makes my normal day not seem so crazy.

A normal day for me is waking up to pray and workout, go to work, after work go to dance class then go record at the studio. Somewhere in between that I find time to tape auditions and keep my edges intact. I feel like I haven’t slept since I moved, but I love it.

It’s not always easy being away from our loved ones but it’s also a necessary part of life, in order to grow, sometimes we have to leave what we are used to.

If that’s not the truth!  Change can be scary, but change nothing and nothing changes! What are some of the biggest changes you’ve experienced since moving?

A big change for me is the ability to adapt to regular things no one really talks about like navigating through traffic and where to get your nails done. Speaking up and asking questions helped me a lot. I would ask people outside of dance class what good food spots were near or where to shop for the low. Although always big on stage, I used to be so mouse-y in person.

Now, I just find my way any way I can by simply saying something.

Girl, it’s the little things.  Part of growing up is putting yourself out there and it sounds like you’re doing just that!  Who are some artists you’d love to collaborate with, in any of your amazing talents?

I would love to collaborate with so many people. *rolls out Christmas List* Definitely Tayla Parx, Victoria Monét and PJ. That whole crew of singer/songwriters seem like Bop City. For guys I’d say The Stereotypes for sure. I have wayyy too many artist from Da Baby to Chris Brown to name them all.

Wow, I listened to music from the first 3 and that would be so cool! I wanna hear collabs asap! Where can your fans keep up to date with your upcoming work?

I have a sad addiction to Instagram so definitely there. I also vlog on my YouTube.

Jazmine, your future is bright and we’re excited to see you grow.  You’re a hustler, working hard and making moves!  We can’t wait to hear more music from you.
