Orlando North offers adventure, relaxation, and a new way to vacation in the Orlando area.  A quick 45 minutes from Disney World, 30 minutes from Universal Studios and SeaWorld you’ll find up to a 30% discount on accommodations.  Not only will you save money on your hotel, there are also plenty of things to do in the Orlando North Seminole County area. Adventure, shopping and great dining it turns out to be a lovely place for families and couples.  Some of the cities in Orlando North consist of Lake Mary, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Sanford and Altamonte springs.

Our fabulous weekend was full of comfort because we stayed at the gorgeous Westin Lake Mary.  The hotel is beautiful and the service was great.  The front counter reps were super polite and check in was easy.  We had breakfast at Shula’s 347 grill and boy was it delicious.   The Westin Lake Mary has a lovely pool area, a huge workout room, comfortable beds, clean rooms and great service.  We were pleased to find out that the hotel is pet friendly.  You can find more info on their site.

A great place to visit is Rebounderz in Apopka, another city in North Orlando.  We’ve never visited a place like this so it was new and exciting.  The kids couldn’t get enough and guess what parents, you can jump too.  You must fill out waivers and purchase special socks but you will have fun.  They have a trampoline area to play basketball, an area to run around and even jump off of the walls and for some real competition, an area just for dodge ball.  The hubby couldn’t pass that one up, joining in some fun with the kids.  It turns out this is also a great workout.

If you like getting in touch with your creative side, Hot Pots, a paint your own pottery studio in the city of Sanford is a must do.  Let your creative side run wild here.  You pick out your own pottery, each at a different cost and then you paint it.  You leave it there so they can “bake” it for you, to set the pain and a few days later you pick up your beautiful piece shiny and bright.  My husband who is not artistic at all, really got into it.  The kids enjoyed painting especially since they were able to pick out their own pottery to paint.  You can paint anything from a dog bowl to a shark.

Black hammock Adventures in Oviedo was super exciting.  A lovely place to visit with scenic views.  Right on Lake Jesup, which happens to have the largest Alligator population in all of Florida, the airboat ride was my favorite experience while visiting Orlando North.  If you’ve never done it you must try it.  I felt as if we were floating on the water and I didn’t realize how fast the airboat rides go.  I loved the sensation of going in and out of the tall water grass.  We saw many different birds, turtles and yes, Alligators.  They provide the kids with life jackets and we all had hearing protection as these airboats can get very loud.

Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford is affordable, fun and filled with over 500 animals.  Have an up close and personal encounter with the Rhinoceros or even ride a Camel.  The zoo has a water play area for the little ones, a cute butterfly garden and zip lining.  There’s something for everyone.  It was surreal to pet a rhino.  I never imagined we’d have this opportunity and it’s something the kids will never forget.  Did you know that you could also adopt an animal?  It’s true, a cute idea that you’re sure to love.  Find more info here.

Looking for a way to have fun while mellowing out?  Yes it’s possible.  We did just that with mini golfing at Congo River golf & exploration in Altamonte Springs.  This place is filled with awesome detail that swift you away to another time and place.  Waterfalls, unique decor, baby alligators you can feed, and at the end, even enjoy a laser maze.  There’s a fun scavenger hunt you can play along with while you mini golf.  Download their app and you won’t have to keep writing down your scores.  The waterfalls and scenic rocks add a relaxing touch.  Walking to each golf hole was full of ooh’s and aah’s.

As we drove around the Orlando North area we could see lots of greenery and we know we’ll be back.  Next time we visit, we’re going to include some hiking and kayaking in our trip.  You can visit with your family or have a quick getaway with your significant other.  We want to check out Wekiva River and the Geneva Wilderness Area.  Our views of Lake Monroe and lake Jessup were breathtaking.  I’m sure you will fall in love with Orlando North like I did.

Disclaimer:  A big thank you to Orlando North Seminole County Tourism for this lovely tour of your gorgeous county. All opinions are my own, my views are honest and true.

Thanks for sharing your experience in Orlando North. I’m all for new family adventures, minus touching baby alligators or anything in the wild.

I’m glad you guys had a great time. I’ve never really explored Orlando, but I’d like to do so once the kids get a little older.

Janeth, this is something I must consider when the Summer comes. We are looking right now for fun activities to do locally on a budget and this looks like the resource spot for us 🙂
Thank you for all the information!
Maybe we will see you on another one of the airboat rides!
